Initial thoughts from Biden's press conference yesterday:
Let's address the largest elephant in the room - Ukraine.
President Biden stated Russia would be held accountable if it invaded Ukraine (again, since they did this in 2014) and then added “It depends on what it does. It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and then we end up having a fight about what to do and not do.”
Stunning. Press Secretary Jen Pskai had to immediately issue clarification following the press conference as to what Biden actually meant to say, but the damage was done. Inside sources in Ukraine say the government there is "stunned," "shocked," and "furious" as it appeared Biden gave Putin the green light to cross the border. Ukranian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba issued a statement condemning the President's remarks.
This is the same person who accused former President Trump of going soft on Putin (which by every record he wasn't) while at the same time his party used the Filibuster to stop sanctions on Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Elections
President Biden, who has condemned former President Trump multiple times for questioning the integrity and accuracy of the 2020 elections was asked if he would accept the outcome of the upcoming 2022 mid-terms. Biden's response? “I think it could easily be illegitimate." Biden went on to discuss the two voting rights bills in the Senate (which were defeated last night) and that the "prospect of an illegitimate [election] is in direct proportion to us being able to get these reforms passed, but I don’t think … you’re gonna see the Democratic Party give up on coming back.”
Basically unless the two bills pass and Democrats get what they want, no election will ever be legitimate. For those keeping score at home, the United States overwhelmingly voted a black man into the White House not once, but twice, both times by popular vote, and the 2020 elections were touted by Biden as "the most secure ever," and "no way it was rigged" but now our election system isn't safe and we must immediately pass legislation to secure it.
I'm sure we are just being paranoid.
Afghanistan
Even after America was humiliated in front of the world and Kabul looked exactly like Saigon (even after Biden said it wouldn't) where 13 servicemembers lost their lives Biden said "I wouldn't change a thing."
Inflation
"The cure for inflation is in my Build Back Better plan." No other explanation.
Again, just a few hot takes. What are yours?
