The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend

The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend

Is this a sign of things to come?  China and Russia may both feel the time is right to increase their aggressions.  From the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. military is restructuring from primarily counterterrorism capabilities toward high-intensity state-on-state great-power conflict, which will take over a decade.  Domestically, our politics are more polarized than ever and some see us in the middle of a cultural revolution where the smallest sparks set off widespread civil unrest.  Throw in a nonexistent foreign policy, a weak Biden Administration trying to avoid any global confrontation, and you have set the stage for extremely aggressive and provocative actions from both Russia and China.  I believe they feel they both have a limited window to push their agendas...before the 2024 Presidential elections.  Current expectations are the GOP will take back at least one chamber of Congress in 2022 and more than likely the White House in 2024, bringing in a more hawkish administration.  Things probably stay quiet until after the Winter Olympics in Beijing, but I'm betting things get frisky after February 2022.  Hopefully the administration is prepared...predicting some major challenges over the next 18 months.
