Last week, President Biden was heard calling Fox News Correspondent, Peter Doocy, a stupid S.O.B. in response to a question about inflation. A lot of folks were hung up on the language and the President's hypocrisy as he said "if you are ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect... talk down to someone, I promise you I will fire you on the spot". The language didn't bother me, nor does his hypocrisy, but this incident is a lot deeper than it appears.
First, it shows the pressure President Biden in under is starting to get to him. The combined pressure due to the failure of just about every single decision he's made during his first year in office. Afghanistan is still in the minds of Americans, inflation continues to rise, covid is still spreading, the southern border is a train wreck, Russia may be on the brink of invading Ukraine, gas prices continue to soar, etc. Oh, and his poll numbers are in the gutter.
Second, and more importantly, it represents the overall theme of his first year...he's not running the show. It's pretty clear to me that he doesn't have a policy or agenda of his own. He strictly relies on his advisors, who think they know best, to inform him of the decisions to make. This is dangerous because he's not in charge. This is why his administration has been so reactive. Someone who is in charge with a vision looks for the opportunity to answer questions and to describe their efforts. If you have a plan you look for the chance to defend it and seek out the media to persuade the masses. President Biden does not know the details of his policies so he hides from the questions because he cannot discuss the specifics. He doesn't believe in them and cannot speak to them because they are not his own.
So the real question is, who is running the show?
